MA+Co transformed an unpromising 3m-wide site flanked by a laneway easement and drive-through bottle shop into a comfortable, all-electric home with efficiency and sustainability at its heart. We chose a steel frame, standardised windows and Colorbond cladding that allow eventual dismantling and re-use.

While created using mostly ready-to-use components, it draws spatially and materially on our more luxurious individual houses, using the same careful detailing which pays particular attention to the eyeline and to where people touch.

The aim is a house that could be replicated in many different settings from a beachfront to a social housing development. —MA+Co
